Be aware of what you are watching and listening to

What enters your brain through your eyes and through your ears will have an impact in your overall well being.

Therefore it's best to stay away from movies that are violent, scary or depressing; as well as from songs that have these themes in their lyrics.

Especially if you are going through anxiety or sadness, this could make it even worse since your subconscious doesn't know the difference between something real that is happening to you and something fictional that is happening in a movie.

In a similar way, depressing song lyrics can worsen feelings of anxiety or sadness.

Watching the news can also have a negative impact if the majority of the news featured are negative.

If a person who isn't going through loss can feel the negative effects of a violent movie or a sad song, now imagine how much stronger the impact for someone who's going through anxiety or grief! This can even affect your sleep.

1.Be mindful of your choice of movies. Make a list of movies you already know that aren't violent, sad or triggering in any way.

2 Be mindful of the music you listen to. Make playlists with songs that are uplifting or empowering so that when you want to listen to something you already have them ready.

3.If you notice that the news are overwhelming or depressing you: try not to watch them everyday or ask someone else to tell you the important bits without graphic details.
