Choose a grounding object
Having a grounding object has helped me come back to the present moment when my mind starts to spiral.
There's science behind this: when you interact with a grounding object -by rubbing, holding or pressing it- you activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which helps soothe your stress response.
Your grounding object can be anything you can hold between your hands, like a piece of jewelry or something from nature.
In my case, my grounding object is a smooth pebble with an inscription in Sanskrit. It helps me feel centered and present, and the message has a spiritual meaning I find very soothing.
Something small and meaningful to hold can become a quiet companion through difficult moments.
